Université de Saint-Boniface launches French sexual violence reporting platform

The creator of an anonymous reporting platform for sexual violence on university and college campuses in Manitoba has launched a French portal for students at the Université de Saint-Boniface.

REES — which stands for Respect, Educate, Empower Survivors — has partnered with 11 post-secondary institutes in the province to date to launch centralized reporting and information platforms so students, staff and faculty can report sexual violence to their school, police or both.

Each institution has customized an offshoot of the trauma-informed platform (reescommunity.com/campus), which aims to link online incident reporting and access to critical information about reporting options, campus sexual violence policies, and campus and community support services.

Sophie Bouffard, president of the Université de Saint-Boniface, said in a news release Monday that the school is pleased to make the resource available to its community.

“Our establishment must offer a positive setting where members of the university community can work, learn and express themselves in an environment free of discrimination, disrespectful behaviour, harassment, sexual violence and reprisals,” Bouffard said.
